What they say: A cutout saddle that offers increased stability at the nose and better pressure distribution.
What we say: As Bontrager points out, Montrose is designed for a more aggressive position, which they call Posture 2. To fit this, the top is more domed and the central cut-out is prominent. Although the tail also raises up slightly to help the rider stay in place.
Three widths are available 128 mm, 148 mm and this middle version at 138 mm. Ours weighs a highly respectable 165 g in part thanks to the ovalised 7×10 mm rails, but also the carbon reinforced shell. Like others here, the rear rail mount is suspended slightly to further aid comfort.
Conclusion: Health-focused design that offers good value and performance.
