Specialized Airnet – Helmet Review

Specialized Airnet - Helmet

Absolutely nailing our price target of £100 Specialized’s Airnet helmet has a less angular and sculpted look than its rivals, yet rather than looking cheap and bowl-like it carries it with great style. The smoothness of the shell, especially at the rear, harks back to the ‘hairnet’ lids of the ’70s, hence the name. Despite its old-skool looks, the styling is actually driven by knowledge gained in the wind-tunnel while designers were testing top-end aerodynamic aids, so the Airnet is certainly no drag.

Three sizes are available covering 51cm to 63 cm circumference heads, with a clever crossover between the two smaller sizes, our medium weighs 292g and has 23 vents. A dual vent across the forehead gives good flow to this key area while the straps use a dedicated fixer meaning they should never twist and be a hassle.
